delicately potted, the U-shaped body rising from a short foot to a flared rim, the exterior brightly painted with rose blossoms in a garden landscape with three insects in flight, representing the eleventh month, the reverse with a poetic inscription which may be translated as ‘Unlike the myriad blossoms that flower and wither; the rose alone is perennially red', followed by a square seal reading Shang, the base with a six-character reign mark within a double circle

A large U-shape crack to the body, extending approximately 54mm along the rim and 45mm down the body of the cup, the whole section possibly out and re-stuck. The mouth gently warped. Traces of paint to the exterior of the foot ring, possibly concealing faint cracks or firing cracks.
