Harris, while on a diplomatic mission to establish trade relations with the Kingdom of Shoa, recorded numerous aspects of Ethiopia, its religion and legends, language, education, natural history, botany, geography, history and battles. Harris also includes accounts of buffalo and elephant hunting during his travels as well as the workings of the slave trade.
