"The Lady Nelson sailed through Bass Strait between Tasmania and Victoria, being the first known vessel to do so from west to east. The vessel was especially designed... for survey work in shallow waters... Grant described the flora and fauna as well as giving his observations on the navigation of Bass Strait, and he included a list of newly discovered islands, bays, and capes" (Hill).



This copy includes a "List of the encouragers of this work" which is not found in most copies.
