Catalogue Note

Very rare. An extensive endorsement of Captain Cook's precautions against scurvy, as well as approving the findings of Lind and Blane. The author records his meeting with Cook at Madeira in 1772 on his Antarctic voyage, describes his voyage on the Swallow up the Persian Gulf to Basra, to India and the East Indies, and on the Roebuck to Antigua and Virginia.
