PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed "To Mr. Jenna. With the authors best wishes - London 11 May 1842". RARE. No copies traced on Americana Exchange or ABPC, and only one institutional copy, in the British Library.



In this work Davis published his experiences of northern Africa regretting "not being able to represent things in a more favourable light, as it certainly would have given me more pleasure to applaud, than to censure, but as the Arabs say, 'where nothing is, nothing can be taken' "(preface).
