Dallaway was chaplain and physician to the embassy of Mr Liston at the Porte from 1794 to 1796, travelling to Constantinople in 1794 with Liston, John Sibthorp and Gaetano Mercati. The latter was also present on the journey through the Troad undertaken by Dallaway and J.B.S. Morritt, providing illustrations for this work.
