An account of Ainsworth's expedition to the Christian tribes of Chaldea (1838-1840). Funded by the Royal Geographical Society and the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, the expedition took Ainsworth deep into the interior of Asia Minor, through eastern Turkey, Kurdistan, Armenia, northern Syria and Mesopotamia.
