Catalogue Note

A rare account of the wreck of the Wager, by one of the survivors who reached Rio de Janiero in long boats. The author, like Bulkeley and Cummins (see lot 31), went on to reach England via Lisbon. The narrative, described as "thrilling" by Hill, is attributed to John Young, a cooper.
