Catalogue Note
RARE. Another variant printing of this unofficial account of Byron's voyage round the world (cf. lots 230 and 232). Like the preceding lot this volume includes 14 unpaginated leaves with an elaborate account of the Patagonian giants, in this copy inserted between pp. 24 and 25. In this variant issue (cf. lot 230) pages 25/26 and 27/28 have been re-set: the final sentence on page 26 ends "eat up a whole basket of ship biscuit at a meal" and does not include "they eat their flesh raw" (cf. ot 230). Page 28 in this copy ends with the words "nine or ten feet high." and omits the beginning of the next sentence which ends with the word "jargon" on page 29.
