Catalogue Note

Buckingham, founder of the Calcutta Journal, the Oriental Herald and Colonial Review, The Sphynx and The Argus, social reformer and founder member of the British and Foreign Institute, travelled extensively in the Middle East. A lengthy appendix refutes the charges of plagiarism brought by Burckhardt and Bankes against Buckingham's Travels in Palestine (1821).
