Catalogue Note

Thomas Bowdich’s wife Sarah completed and edited this narrative of his third voyage to Africa posthumously. Among her contributions are three sections, 'a narrative of the continuance of the voyage to its completion... a description of the English settlements on the River Gambia,' and an 'appendix, containing Zoological and Botanical descriptions, and translations from the Arabic' as well as plates of ‘Views, Costumes, and Zoological Figures’.
