Condition

Overall the condition of the terracotta is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are some stable fissures running horizontally from left to right, through the drapery and neck of the left flagellator, through Christ's neck and down into the right flagellator's abdomen (via other figures and the background). There is also a fissure to the left of Christ's perizonium on the proper right side, going down the edge of the column; and another fissure behind his head. There are numerous lesser fissures. There are a few small losses, including the left flagellator's proper right big toe; the right flagellator's proper right thumb; the far right torturer's proper left big toe; and Christ's proper left big toe. There are a few small losses to the sides and corners of the relief. There is dirt and wear to the frame consistent with age.
