Catalogue Note

The shape and condition of these busts suggests that they were possibly located in roundels on a facade such as those on either side of the Porta de' Leoni of the Palazzo Castelli-Prosperi-Sacrati in Ferrara. The classicism with which both busts are imbued is equally reminiscent of sculpture from this area such as work by the Lombardo brothers of Venice and Maffeo Olivieri.
