Condition

Overall the condition of the wood is good with wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are losses to the gilding and paint, particularly at the base, the high points in the drapery and noses. Some areas of the polychromy, specifically the hands were probably refreshed. There is an area of restoration at the back of the head of the Virgin. There are a few wormholes consistent with material which have possibly caused the small loses to either side of the head of the Virgin and the the lower edge at the reverse.
