Description
- Satyr with Infant Dionysus
- wax
- After the Antique Italian, late 18th century
Condition
Overall the condition of the wax is good with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. There are some colour differences in the wax and there are a few red spats to the torso of the satyr. The figure was made in sections and appears to be fragmentary. The tail, left arm, and right forearm of the satyr are lost and Dionysus is missing his right arm and lower legs. Joints are visible on the limbs. Dionysius' head was reattached. The satyr has a stable split along his lower back and Dionysus has one to the left side of the head. There are some stable hairline fissures to the base which were stabilised with plaster underneath.
