Catalogue Note

Ecclesiastes provided the new owner of the Golden Cockerel Press, Christopher Sandford, with an opportunity to match the typographical skills of Gibbings and Gill. "He rose to the challenge and produced a book of great power. The short, wide blocks showed the artist at his best; Sandford's design (placing them sometimes as headpieces, sometimes half way down the page, dividing the text into two blocks) gave the book a vibrant, exciting effect."
