Catalogue Note

The Chester Play of the Deluge was the last book for which David Jones produced wood-engravings for the Golden Cockerel Press. He worked so slowly that Robert Gibbings was unable to work with him again. As David Jones grew out of Eric Gill's artistic shadow, his work grew in originality and interest. His wood-engravings for this work were "Triumphs of design and imagery".
