Catalogue Note
The Song of Songs was the second book with illustrations by Eric Gill to be produced by the Golden Cockerel Press. Gill's first important work from the Press proved controversial at the time of publication, partly due to the version of the text edited by Fr John O'Connor but mostly due to the explicit illustrations.
