Catalogue Note

Jamnabehn was a member of the extended Gandhi clan. Like many others, she was drawn to Sabarmati Ashram in the early 1930s. Her commitment to the Independence struggle was primarily manifested in her indefatigable work spinning khadi. In this she worked closely with the grand-daughters of Dadabhai Naoroji, who are mentioned several times in these letters.
