Catalogue Note
The recipient of this copy was Prudence Pelham, a sculptor apprenticed to Gill at the age of eighteen and to whom Gill introduced the male anatomy. Fiona MacCarthy notes that Gill "...found her stimulating and provocative as well as beautiful". This copy also includes an engraving of Mellors from Lady Chatterley's Lover (P727) pasted onto the rear fixed endpaper. Gill maintained this was a self-portrait.
