FIRST EDITION OF THE GREATEST NOVEL IN ENGLISH OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. The 1/750 issue was the first of the three issues of Ulysses to arrive in Paris from the printer Maurice Darantiere on 2 February 1922. As recorded by Laura Barnes in her census for the appendix to Glenn Horowitz's 1996 catalogue James Joyce. Books & Manuscripts (from the information gleaned from Sylvia Beach's own notebook), this copy was acquired by Fred Hanna on February 20 1922, shortly after official publication.
