Virgil Thomson (1896–1989) was an American composer. In the 1920s he made acquaintance with Gertrude Stein and Pablo Picasso in Paris. In 1949 Thomson won the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his film score Louisiana Story; Sotheby's New York.
