The "scarcest and the costliest of all Dickens pamphlets" (Eckel). This is the first edition of the first of Dickens's play to be performed publicly, an expansion of one of his sketches ("The Great Winglebury Duel", which had appeared in Sketches by "Boz" :see lot xxx) as a vehicle for the comic actor John Pritt Harley. It was a great success, running for fifty nights.
