Catalogue Note

Uncontestably the most important narrative source for the English Reformation and the work that shaped its later development.

The sixth edition (1610) of volume 1 of Foxe's monumental Acts and Monuments (later known as the Book of Martyrs), with the second edition (1570) of volume 2. The second edition was so expanded and rewritten as to become in effect a separate work from the first edition of 1563, also published by Day.
