Catalogue Note

This photograph appears to date from Churchill's final visit to the United States as Prime Minister in June 1954, when he stayed with the Eisenhowers at the White House for three nights. Christopher Soames, then MP for Bedford, was a member of the Prime Ministerial party; he was Churchill's parliamentary private secretary as well as his son-in-law.
