Condition
The sheet is free floating. The collaged elements appear to be securely attached to the sheet. When viewed out of the frame there is evidence of some fading to the pink and green background pigments. There appears to be some surface dirt across the work. With the exception of the above the work appears to be in good condition.
The work is presented in a circular black and gold frame.

Catalogue Note
Toby was the budgerigar at Chartwell who was given to Churchill by Christopher Soames's sister in 1956 (see lot 249). In the present work, a humorous friend has clearly invented the idea of a birthday present. Churchill and Mary were particularly fond of birds and and they also kept a grey parrot at Chartwell.
