Catalogue Note

This celebrated leaf form known as 'Blind Earl' takes its name from the Earl of Coventry who lost his sight following a hunting accident. It is reputed that in the late 1750's he requested that the Worcester factory produce a pattern that he could feel. However similar models were produced at an earlier date at Chelsea so there is some speculation to this story.
