Catalogue Note
Nemon and Churhcill first met in 1951 at the La Mamounia Hotel in Marrakech where he first made a terracotta bust of Churchill. The two became close friends with Nemon sculpting Churchill on numerous occassions including a commission by Elizabeth II for Windsor castle in 1952, a 1955 seated bronze for the Guildhall and the 1970 bronze of Churchill with his hands on his hips which stands in the Members' Lobby of the House of Commons.
