A UNIQUE RECORD OF SARAH CHURCHILL'S STAGE CAREER. Sarah appeared on stage on both sides of the Atlantic as well as performing on film and television. The plays in this collection include Edgar Wallace's The Case of the Frightened Lady, George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion (in which she appeared in a 1960 touring production), and Misalliance (in which she appeared in a 1940 London production), Laurence Housman's Victoria and Albert, Dodie Smith's Bonnet over the Windmill, J.M. Barrie's Mary Rose (she appeared in a 1941 London production of the play), and Patrick Hamilton's Gas Light (first edition, 1939; she appeared in a 1946 touring production). Gerald Savory's George and Margaret is annotated in pencil and Ashley Dukes' translation of Machiavelli's Mandragola is inscribed "For Sarah Churchill 21.1.40 Ashley Dukes".
