The painting is overall in good condition. It has been relined during the beginning of the 20th century. This operation has flatten the painted surface. It is under an old thick varnish, very dirty. There is a network of visible cracks mainly in the background. Those cracks are probably due to the varnish. There are some little lacks scattered, they correspond to lack of cracks. We see three of them in the costum of the boy and one above the right hand of the young boy. There are also little lacks along the lower edge. Under UV lamp: Under a green thick, uniform varnish. No visible restoration.
