Catalogue Note

"Requiring his figures to levitate in some version of the monochrome painter's field, Longo assigns them to limbo, a pictorial void.  Yet that field is not completely homeless.  It belongs to urban culture, just as surely as his Men in the Cities dress according to the dictates of a certain New York style."  (Carter Ratcliff, Robert Longo, New York, 1985, p. 17)
