Condition

This work is in good condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling along the edges and there are light handling marks visible on the surface of the painting. There are scattered light surface abrasions visible under close inspection, including an 8-inch diagonal abrasion that begins approximately 3 inches from the upper right corner that is visible under raking light. There are pinpoint yellow media accretions scattered throughout, a localized area of small horizontal black media accretions near the lower left edge, 2 pinpoint accretions adhered to the surface just below the central square, a light 2-inch horizontal media accretion at the right center edge and various other light accretions throughout. There is a small loss to the red paint on the lower left edge of the innermost red square and a small loss to the red paint to the left of center. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the yellow spot accretions flouresece brightly and there are areas along the edges that flouresece but appear to be the result of superficial soiling and do not appear to be the result of inpainting or restoration. Framed. Please note the auction begins at 9:00 am on November 12th.
