Catalogue Note

"Because after all, this painting, and most of [Michaux's] paintings, have always been about delayed ways of remaking the human image, through a mark which is totally outside an illustrational mark but yet always conveys you back to the human image - a human image generally dragging and trudging through deep ploughed fields, or something like that. They are about these images moving and falling and so on." - Francis Bacon, 1966
