with a grey veined moulded marble top, the fall-front opening to reveal a leather inset writing surface, pigeon holes and four short drawers inlaid with floral marquetry, above a pair of cupboard doors enclosing a shelf and removable strong box, on cabriole legs, stamped JME / DELORME
Condition
A charming piece. Overall in good restored condition. Chips and scratches to marble top. Cracking and discoloration to varnish finish. Repaired crack and patching to fall-front. Small patches and repairs to sides. Leather inset worn and one of the interior short drawers fitted with an ink well and displaying consequent stains. Minor losses to veneers, old marks and scratches commensurate with age.

Catalogue Note
Adrien Delorme's date of birth is unknown but it is recorded that he was received Master in 1748 and was active until 1783. He came from a family of ébénistes and was the eldest son of François Faizelot-Delorme (1691-1768), who was based in the rue Tiquetonne.
