Description

the Bodhisattva standing on a rectangular base, her corpulent figure draped in loose fitting ochre and green robes with the upper chest exposed, the head with a tall chignon behind a bejewelled crown

Condition

The figure is divided to two parts at the waist. There are several losses, including but not limited to the left hair tassel of the figure, the extremities of the hairdress, robes, toes etc, and one back corner of the rectangular base. There are also several breaks and repairs, including but not limited to the right hair tassel of the figure, the head had possibly been broken and repaired, with traces of overpainting over a possible crack around the neck. There are horizontal cracks running across the upper waist and the legs on the reverse of the figure. There is a shorter crack on the hems of a robe near the left hand. There are other general chips and losses, particularly to the extremities. The glaze and surface is largely eroded with numerous glaze chips and discolouration. The attribute held in the hands are now lost. There are other glaze firing imperfections such as firing cracks, fritting, grit adhesion etc.
