each formed as a recumbent lion on a rectangular base supporting a vase-shaped taper holder on its back, brightly glazed in green, aubergine and ochre
Condition
One lion has the right ear fallen off. There is a circa 20cm crack running from one side near the lion's rear haunches, across the base, and to the other side. The head of one smaller lion was broken and restuck. The top section of the vase supported on the lion's back has been broken and restuck, with an associated loss (measuring approx. 1.4x1cm) to the reverse.
The other lion has the right ear broken and restuck. The top of the beaker vase supported on the lion's back may be broken and restored, with traces of overpaint visible.
