Description

  • porcelain
brightly enamelled around the bell-shaped body with blossoming prunus branches above a lappet band, the base with apocryphal Chenghua mark; together with a pair of cups decorated with squirrels amongst grapevine

Condition

The neck of the teapot has been reduced with associated chips around the rim. There is a 1x0.5cm chip near the foot to the exterior. The rims of the cover have at least six small chips. General wear to the enamel and gilding. Minor glaze firing imperfections. One cup has been broken into three pieces and restuck, with associated chips and losses. There are a 2.5cm and a 4cm crack near to this break. The other cup has a 0.4x0.2cm rim chip with an associated 1.8cm crack. General enamel wear and glaze firing imperfections to both cups.
