Description

the square body rising from four lion mask cabriole legs to a broad everted rim, supporting a central tier pierced with ‘wan’ bands, the similarly pierced and domed cover surmounted by a lion finial, all brightly enamelled in yellow, green and aubergine enamels

Condition

At least two of the four legs of the censer has been broken and restuck. One corner of the censer cover has been broken and restuck, with associated chips/losses. There is another chip to one ear of the lion finial. Other minor nibbling/chips, particularly along the extremities and reticulated decoration. Apart from other minor fritting and glaze firing imperfections, the censer and cover is in good condition.
