Description

the lobed globular body rising to a tall knopped trumpet neck and set at the shoulder with a mammiform spout, brightly enamelled around the exterior with bands of figures, landscapes and flowers

Condition

The kendi is broken and restored at the rim, with about a third covered in overpaint. There is a firing crack to the underside of the rim (approx. 3.3cm) which is vaguely visible from the top of the rim. The tip of the spout is also restored with overpainting. There are other glaze firing imperfections such as glaze pulls, pinpricks and burst glaze bubbles (mainly to the base and the interior rim), and surface scratches. The base of the kendi with a label reading E&F Subert.
