Description

  • beechwood
with an arched padded back above padded arms and loose cushion seats on cabriole legs terminating in scrolled feet the top-and seat-rail carved with flowers and leaves; restorations, feet cut

Condition

The wood is dry looking and would benefit from a repolish according to taste. Joints sound and sturdy. Hairline construction cracks at joints commensurate with age and normal usage. There are generally age cracks throughout the frame. All the legs have been reblocked and re-tiped with a yellow stain. There is an old repair to the right seat-rail when facing. There are metal nails in the seat-rail underneath where there have been restorations. There is an uneven yellow stain to the chair in places. The strut at the back is possibly a later replacement. The colours are uneven and they would benefit from a repolish.
