comprising: a baluster vase painted with bamboo and pine, an ovoid jar and cover with fruiting branches, two bowls painted with flowers, a pair of kraak bowls with panelled decoration of flowers, and two dishes

Provenance

Pair of kraak bowls: Luis Alegria, Porto.

Condition

The baluster vase is in good condition with very light fritting around the rim, the glaze is slightly yellowed around the foot. Minor foot chips and surface scratchings. The jar: The rim has restoration and a circa 1.5cm crack visible on both sides, with associated shorter cracks to the interior. The cover is probably later matched, and with one rim chip (1.2x0.7cm from the underside and 1x0.3cm from the top). The smaller floral bowl with a four-point star crack on the side, longest branch measuring 2.2cm. There are fritting and minor chips to the rim. The larger floral bowl with some rim chips and short firing cracks across the foot. The interior with a horizontal body line. One kraak bowl with a rim crack (approx. 3.3cm) visible on both sides and a minute rim chip. The exterior with considerable circular blisters. The other bowl with about six rim chips, the exterior with a circa 2.5cm crack and a 4-point star crack (longest branch 1.8cm). The small kraak dish with small rim chips. The larger dish with fritting around the rim and numerous surface scratches. All with glaze firing imperfections and surface scratchings.
