Condition

The canvas has an old reline. There is old, minor surface dirt and studio detritus, and in places the varnish is slightly discoloured. There are instances of very fine cracking to one or two of the thicker passages of impasto, only visible upon close inspection, but this excepting the work appears in very good overall condition. Ultraviolet light reveals scattered traces of fluorescence and retouchings, including, but not limited to the extreme edges. These have been very sensitively executed. Housed in a thick, ornate painted and gilt frame.
