Description

  • painted and carved wood
  • each 10½in high
each depicted standing on a square plinth, the arms raised holding a tribute box, wearing brightly painted loose fitting robes fastened at the waist, the hair neatly combed to form two twin-knots

Condition

Both figures with the arms broken and restuck. The celestial scarf has been broken with about half section missing. One figure with the ends of the scarf restuck. There are other chips along the extremities such as the ends of the robes and the corners of the base. There are flaking to the lacquer throughout and signs of crackle and deterioration around the collar and hems. General surface wear and some traces of re-lacquer, mainly but not limited to the restored areas.
