Description

each elaborately painted in famille-rose and gilt with rectangular panels variously enclosing figures in pavilions and landscapes, all between bands of butterflies and flowers, the cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a knop

Condition

Both jars have general enamel wear and flakes, with some minor traces of re-painting. There are small blisters to the body and minor glaze firing imperfections such as burst glaze bubbles, iron spots etc. There are chips around the circular apertures to both the covers and the jar. The feet of both jars have very minor shallow chips. One jar has a 4-point star crack to one side of the body, the longest branch measuring 3cm and visible from the interior. The other jar with small chips along the rims of the cover and the jar.
