comprising three baluster vases and covers and a pair of beaker vases, each variously decorated with shaped underglaze-blue cartouches formed from stylised floral and foliate motifs, enclosing famille-rose figures within garden landscapes and pavilions, alternating with smaller cartouches with flowers, birds and landscapes, all below a faux-Ftizhugh border and cellular diaper band
Condition
The vases have probably been later matched. There are general enamel wear, loss to the gilding and minor glaze firing imperfections.
One beaker vase has been restored at various sections of the rim and oversprayed to the interior. The rim has a 1cm crack. The exterior with various long glaze cracks (approx. 22cm). There are some vertical glaze cracks around the foot. The other beaker vase has a 0.3x0.1cm rim chip, and a glaze crack (1.3cm) to the bottom near the underglaze blue flowers.
One baluster vase has a 0.3x0.3cm rim chip and a 1cm rim crack. There are vertical glaze cracks to the foot. The other vase has a crackled glaze surface. The neck is heavily restored, the body has a 3-point star crack to the body (longest measuring 4.5cm), and an approximate 5cm vertical crack visible from the interior. The third baluster vase is slightly smaller.
Two of the three covers have restored rim chips, the other cover in good condition.
