Description
- Pottery
- the Rooster: 21.6cm., 8 1/2 in. high
comprising a Rooster, a pair of seated monkeys, a pair of dogs and a pair of cows, the Rooster, by Lambertus van Eenhoorn, modelled facing slightly to the left standing on a small mound base. painted in tones of underglaze-blue, LVE mark over 12 DW for Lambertus van Eenhoorn in underglaze-blue, the monkeys, both modelled wearing clothes and smoking a pipe seated on high scroll bases resting on three feet, picked out in tones of green, blue and iron-red, Factory mark in brown enamel, the dogs modelled wearing collars standing on small mound bases picked in puce and blue spots, the cows modelled standing on rectangular bases painted with red spots and a large spray of flowers on their backs, some restoration,
Condition
The Rooster:
A section of the base, located across the birds right foot has been re-stuck, another section effecting the lower part of the birds tail has been re-stuck. There are some typical nibble chips to the edges which has resulted in some glaze loss, a section of the birds upper beak has been re-stuck, and there is a chip to the lower part of the beak.
The monkeys:
One model, there is restoration to the monkey's left foot and hand. To the underside of the base there is a flat chip. The other model, the piece has been broken through the base and restored. Both have some typical nibble chips which has resulted in some glaze loss.
The Cows:
Both cows have had their horns restored; one model of a dog has a section of the base re-stuck which effects its front left leg. All models have typical nibble chips resulting in some glaze loss.
