- Silver and Ivory
- the knife tray 39.5cm., 15 1/2 in. long ; 964gr., 30oz., 19dwt.
oblong, gadroon border, engraved on one side with the crest and coronet of the Barons Monson, together with a quantity of English silver items, comprising: a pair of Vegetable Tongs with ivory handle, Thomas Wallis, London, 1801; a Fish Slice with green-stained ivory handle, Hester Bateman, 1782; a conical Chamber Candlestick Snuffer, 1767; a silver-mounted glass Pepper Grinder, John Grinsell & Sons, 1897; a Mustard Pot (lid missing), Carrington, 1906, all London; also a die-stamped and loaded standing Chamber Candlestick with conical extinguisher, Henry Wilkinson & Co., Sheffield, 1840; and the following electroplate items: a Crumb Scoop with ivory handle, a Lemon Squeezer, and 4 French enamel scent bottles labels, circa 1900, in a gilt monogrammed leather case
Condition
The 1801 pair of vegetable tongs are the best item in this lot: both marks and condition are good; the remainder are in fair to tired overall condition - the knife tray has wear and dents with some splits to the rim, marks fair.
