Description

  • copper, brass, steel
  • 31cm. high;12¼in.
the movement with standing barrels, stackfreed, verge and balance wheel escapement with later hairspring, numbered count wheel striking on a bell, the drum case chased with stylised leaves and strapwork,  surmounted by a simulated palm tree supporting a silvered revolving sphere, the time indicated by a Moor holding a pointer, his head turning as each hour is struck

Condition

All very dirty throughout. Movement in generally good condition and just running at timer of cataloguing but is very dirty and needs service and overhaul, later hairspring, alteration to stackfreed, some surface rusting to steel components, case gilding rubbed in places, rear foot replaced, old cuts and damage to drum, later alteration to movement fitting, dog lacking from base of figure, silvering to time sphere very discoloured/tarnished, rusting to steel pointer, some losses to paint on the figure. No winder.
