Description

  • POTTERY
with Rococo architectural cartouches with scenes with aristocratic figures, some tiles damaged and with some later replacements

Condition

This lot comprises of approximately 1,000 tiles, which typically measure 14cm. by 14cm. (5½in. by 5½in.) although some are smaller to fit the design design/overall scheme. The tiles have been removed from walls and are therefore in need of careful restoration. These tiles are all 20th century and the condition of the tiles varies. There are numerous broken and/or damaged tiles, some of which have been fixed together with cello tape whist others remain as fragments. Each tile will need careful cleaning as they retain the concrete/cement adhesive. The glazing to some tiles has been chipped. Polaroid’s of this group are on the website and show how the tiles were originally displayed. We encourage any clients interested in this lot to organise a time to visit the warehouse and inspect the lot first hand. Due to the volume of tiles we have not been able to condition check each tile.
