each with borders of scrolling foliage, one with a portrait medallion of a gentleman, within a wreath and the other depicting a royal coat of arms inscribed ILITVRGI S. A. ANDVJAR beneath, the example with the medallion with a large riveted repair,
Condition
These large jardinières are on a grand scale. The example depicting the armorial coat of arms with chips, and losses of glaze to the rim from the firing process. There are brown marks to the main body; there are deposits and chips to the rim at the base. The other example with a large repaired break which extends from the top to the bottom of the piece and a larger re-inserted v-shaped section and fracture, there are traces of staples and some existing staples to this damage and glue. There are chips and deposits. There are also brown marks to the body.
